Can You Help us to Help More Orphans, Vulnerable Kids and MKs?

Today is International Widows Day. A Nigeria based television station did a documentary to highlight their plight. A case cited by the TV station was that of a 42-year-old woman, and her children brought tears to my eyes. As the camera crew took us through the uncompleted buildings she lived in up to where she now resides, you will naturally think only mad people stay in such places. Watching the interviewing, you know she is not insane. The widow explains that they sold all their possessions when the husband was sick to treat him but unfortunately, he died. While the son was speaking to the journalist, the TV station stopped airing the documentary.

Recently, I encountered one such woman with three children. I came back home, depressed. I wish I could help them, but my hands are full. WE see more and more orphans and vulnerable kids roaming the street without help. We are taking in another set of five kids into the Home of Grace(HOG) to help, and hopefully, we will do more. A heartbreaking experience was that of a sister of a small girl that we took this week. She begged that we should please consider her too. She dropped out of school in JSS one. Her grandmother, a widow, had pleaded for several months that we help her and her grandchildren. Her son, the father of these children, had gone to be with the Lord.   We turned down the little girl's appeal because we are already taking more than we can chew.  Turning down, her request was not an experience, and it has been easy since then. I have continued to pray for more support so the ministry and I can do more, knowing the implication of what Proverbs 21:13 noted: “ Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.”  I am, however, also aware that God knows our financial capacity to cope.

We do not just accommodate the kids who are mainly orphans, vulnerable kids, and missionary kids at our Home of Grace (HOG). We feed them. We take them to school and provide all they need to have a great future, including school fees, textbooks, pay all levies, etc. We take care of them like we take care of our children. We assign trained missionary staff to them as foster parents.  To take more kids, we need more missionaries, trained and experienced missionaries to join our team. To take in more of these kids, we will like you to pray about joining our team. You can do this via many fronts:

Commit yourself to pray for the kids and every one of us in the frontline. We noticed more lately that the spiritual resistance from the power of darkness is not in any way less than the ones our missionaries working among the unreached people encounters. Just recently, a young girl whom we raised attempted suicide but for God’s intervention. One other had struggled with suicidal thoughts until recently. Pray for our existing partners whose help made it possible to sustain the work to this point.

We want those who would join our team as an advocate for the orphans and vulnerable kids. Such advocates will, in addition to prayers, commit themselves to raise partners who would support the work both in prayers and regular financial supports. Just recently, the prices of foodstuff have more than doubled. This inflation cut across every spectrum of their everyday needs like soap, pomade, toothpaste, and other toiletries. Our accommodation is becoming congested and we are building another house that would accommodate 30 more children. We are still trusting God for an additional N10 million to complete the project.

You can join our team as a missionary caregiver. This requires that you must be born again, gone through mission training, and possibly gain some experience. You must be willing to relate with the children as your children. You must be willing to do the menial job like cooking, bathing the younger ones, washing their clothes when the need arises. If you are well educated and can drive, that will be awesome! It is residential and may require 24/7 attention.

Topmost priority list of Home of Grace Kids (HOG) needing adoption

Thank you so much for your interest in partnering with us to take the gospel to the dark places of the earth. We have made progress in putting smile on the faces of orphans, vulnerable kids and children of missionaries serving in very difficult terrain/fields that are infested with Boko Haram terrorists and Fulani militias and kids of missionary trainees.
Victor Aderemi
Zechariah Stephen

Sarah, Grace, Salvation and Roseline
This has been made possible due to the partnership of friends and churches that adopted a number of them. The adoption term includes praying for the adopted kids, providing basic upkeep allowance to cover for their feeding, clothing and medical support. We recommend a monthly upkeep allowance of $50. Where adopting partners cannot afford the $50, he or she can share with other partners. Also, we desire that partners take care of their adopted kid’s school fees and give an occasional gift during special seasons like Christmas and birthday where feasible. No specific amount is fixed as that depends on the capability of adopting partners.

UCH: A Key to Harvesting the Nations

In 1993, God stirred up our heart to catch the unreached kids young for Christ and raise them up to become God-fearing future leaders, church planters, evangelists, medical missionaries, teachers, etc. While we were yet praying, God began to open doors for the realisation of the vision as parents (from various unreached people groups) willingly began to handover their children to us to help bring them up.

That gave birth to what we today call the Unreached Children's Home (UCH). What we thought was a long term vision soon began to yield short term dividends as we see so many lives transformed literally from being the village idol worshipping and Muslim boys and girls to becoming sound Christian believers and instruments of reaching the unreached people.

Monica Omale (nee Ogwuche) served as pioneer missionary who handled the home. Her passion and interest in the kids was unparalleled. With her little upkeep allowance then, she kept and fed several unreached kids. One of the kids, Ayuba Ajikovi today is in the final year in secondary school. God has raised him up to be a formidable instrument in His hands. He has served as president of the Fellowship of Christian Students in the school where he attends for several years now.

The few occasions he travelled home on holiday gives us a lot of joy and hope that the nation of Kamberi will be harvested in a short while as he preach to his people in their cultural context and God backs him up with unbelievable results. This little beginning metamorphosed into a rescue ministry when Monica’s predecessor, Stella Ella found herself in a scene where a baby was to be buried alive with her mother six months after delivery. She literally rescued the baby from death.

Baby Blessing is a big girl now and growing very fast. Stopping her people from burying Blessing alive with her dead mother was a challenge of its own and the various infections she had sucked from the mother's breasts during her prolonged illness was another challenge. After several months of combined medical and spiritual battles, Baby Blessing is today a big girl under the motherly care of the current field leader, Mary Ojile. Today, Blessing, a Dukawa girl like others from various backgrounds in the UCH are growing fast to take over the responsibility of reaching their people.Worse than baby Blessing’s story is baby Victor.

The mother died when he was less than four months old. His juju priest grandfather had consulted his oracle and their demand was in line with their cultural practice which requires that he accompanies the mother. Victor was however fortunate that a compassionate relative who knew of the ministry of the UCH ran to inform one of the grace Foundations’ missionaries, Blessing Abafi. Moved by compassion, the missionary quickly ran to the scene and without struggle, she was handed over the child. The people were very sure that in a matter of days the baby will become a history because of how pale he looked.

To their dismay, the baby is still alive. The missionary named him Victor. His victory however depends on you as Victor still has a long way to go. He is constantly sick and need thorough medical attention. Victor is not fortunate to enjoy his mother’s breast milk but with fund he can enjoy better alternative. Victor needs your prayer and your financial support.

Beside Victor, baby Blessing and Ayuba Ajikovi, the UCH has other kids from Muslim and idol worshipping background who are today doing very fine in the Lord. Joy Yahaya is a form one student in Bethel High School. Salisu Chiroma, the grandson to the village head of Dir land was the first fruit of our work among the Dirawa people. He is one of the UCH kids. He needs our support and our care.

Daniel, Irimiya, Apollos and many others have the priviledge of growing up in the unreached children home. They are source of joy and keys to harvesting the nations but the challenges are enormous. Yet many other children are waiting for the loving arm of those who will embrace them through the ministry of the UCH.The UCH has some challenges which include inadequate upkeep funds, concerted demonic attacks on the kids and the usual teenage challenges.

Additionally, school fees are needed for those in secondary schools and school materials like textbooks and uniform are needed for those in primary schools. You can make a whole lot of difference for one of these kids via our UCH Distance Kids Adoption Programme.
